Bot ‘n’ Brush is an independent website that helps people in the UK choose, use and fix robot vacuums. We’re not owned by, or connected to, any manufacturer or retailer.
Who runs Bot ‘n’ Brush
Bot ‘n’ Brush is edited by Levi Sterling. Levi started the site because most robot vacuum reviews either repeat the spec sheet or skip the downsides.
Every guide is built from manufacturer specifications, independent test results and patterns in UK owner reviews: the faults that appear after six months, the parts that are hard to find, the apps that stop getting updates. Levi hasn’t tested every robot on this site and won’t pretend to. Where we have used a product ourselves, the article says so.
Levi Sterling is a pen name. The site is run by a real person in the UK, and everything on it is written and checked by that person.
Why this site exists
Buying a robot vacuum should be simple. It rarely is. There are dozens of models that look almost identical, spec sheets built around suction figures that tell you very little, and model names that change from one country to the next. Plenty of “best of” lists read as though they were written from the box.
Bot ‘n’ Brush exists to cut through that. Every guide starts with a simple question: what kind of home, and what kind of mess, is this for? Then we give you a clear recommendation, explain why, and tell you who it isn’t right for.
We write specifically for UK buyers. That means UK prices and availability, UK warranties, and the realities of UK homes: carpets and rugs, stairs, pets, older flooring, and rooms that are often smaller than the ones in manufacturers’ demo videos.
What we cover
- Buying guides. The best robot vacuums for different homes, floors, pets and budgets.
- Comparisons. Head-to-heads between models and brands, with a clear answer.
- Fixes and maintenance. What to do when something goes wrong, and how to make your robot last.
- Brand guides. What each model in a range actually does differently, so you don’t pay for features you won’t use.
How we research and recommend
We want you to know exactly where our recommendations come from, so this is how we work.
- We start with the buyer, not the spec sheet. A family with two dogs and a lot of carpet needs something different from someone in a one-bedroom flat with hard floors. Every guide is organised around situations like these.
- We check the details that matter in the UK. We confirm model names, specifications, prices and availability against manufacturer information and UK retailers, because the same robot can be sold under different names in different countries.
- We look for independent evidence. That includes published independent test results, long-term owner reports, common faults, and how well a manufacturer keeps supporting its app and software.
- We look at the real cost of owning one. Brushes, filters, dust bags and mop pads all need replacing. We check what they cost and whether they’re easy to buy in the UK.
- We say who a product isn’t for. A recommendation is only useful if you know its limits.
- We keep guides up to date. Robot vacuums change quickly. We review our guides regularly and show when each one was last updated.
Our testing. Our recommendations are based on research rather than hands-on testing of every model. When we have used a product ourselves, we say so clearly in that article. We will never describe a product as tested when it hasn’t been.
Hands-on experience. We’re adding our own hands-on testing over time. As we use products ourselves, we’ll add what we find to the relevant guides and mark those sections clearly.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts, as many publishers now do. Every article is then checked, edited and approved by a person before it’s published. Facts, prices and specifications are checked against the original sources, and we don’t publish anything we wouldn’t stand behind.
How we make money
Bot ‘n’ Brush is free to read. When you click some links on our site and buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission. It doesn’t cost you anything extra.
Commission never decides what we recommend. No brand can pay to be included in a guide or to be ranked higher, and we don’t publish sponsored reviews. If a manufacturer ever sends us a product, we’ll say so clearly in the article. You can read the full details in our Affiliate Disclosure.
Corrections
We work hard to get things right, but robot vacuums change fast and mistakes happen. If you spot something wrong or out of date, please let us know. We’ll check it, fix it where needed and update the article’s date.
