Bot ‘n’ Brush helps UK shoppers choose home products by pulling together published, independent evidence and checking what you can actually buy. This page explains how every guide on the site is put together.
We don’t test products ourselves
Bot ‘n’ Brush does not carry out hands-on testing. Our guides are built from tests and reviews published by other people, and we say so on each article.
How we use independent evidence
- We look for independent tests by named reviewers or test labs, not manufacturer claims.
- We attribute every finding to its source and keep manufacturer specifications separate from tested results.
- Where testers disagree, we show both sides instead of picking one.
- Where a reviewer tested a different regional version of a product, or the region isn’t stated, we say so.
- Where something is our own judgement, we label it as our view.
How we check prices and availability
- We check prices and stock on retailers’ own pages and show the date of every check.
- To be a pick, a product must be in stock within our price limit at two authorised UK sellers. These are the brand’s own UK store, Amazon UK when Amazon or the brand’s official storefront is the seller, and major UK retailers. Third-party marketplace sellers don’t count.
- We flag sellers that belong to the same brand.
- A product that is only under budget because of a discount from a higher list price goes on a deal watch list instead of being a pick.
- Prices change quickly, so treat any price in an article as a snapshot. The retailer’s page at the time you buy is always the final word.
What we leave out
Each guide lists what we didn’t check. Our guides are not surveys of the whole market, and we don’t claim they are.
