Best Robot Vacuums Under £500 UK (2026)

By Levi Sterling | Published 16 Oct 2026 | Prices and stock last checked 16 Oct 2026, around 11:00 BST

Finding the best robot vacuum under £500 UK shoppers can actually buy today means looking past the headline specs. A robot at this price can map your home, mop hard floors and, in some cases, empty its own bin, but a spec sheet can’t tell you how well it cleans. This guide is built from independent test results published by UK and European reviewers, and we checked every pick for UK availability at authorised sellers. Bot ‘n’ Brush has not tested these robots itself.

The evidence supports two picks: a low-cost robot vacuum and mop for people happy to empty the bin by hand, and a budget model with a dock that empties the bin and washes the mop pads. Three more models are on our deal watch list, because their sub-£500 prices or UK availability don’t yet meet our rules. This isn’t a survey of every robot on sale; see How we chose for what we did and didn’t check.

Quick picks

  • Best budget: Roborock Q7 M5 – £119.99 at Roborock UK and at Amazon UK (sold by Roborock Official UK), checked 16 Oct 2026. Both sellers are Roborock channels. Prices move. Strong carpet pickup in independent tests, but long hair can wrap the roller and the dock only charges.
  • Best budget self-emptying vacuum-mop: Xiaomi X20+ – £249.99 at Xiaomi’s UK store and £299.99 at Amazon UK (sold by Amazon), checked 16 Oct 2026, so the two sellers are not both brand-controlled. A dock that empties the bin and washes the mop pads for under £300, though testers disagree on how well it avoids obstacles.
  • Deal watch: Roborock Qrevo S Pro, Shark Matrix Plus RV2620WAUK, Roborock QV 35S. These are not picks; see Deal watch.

Roborock Q7 M5: best budget

Price: £119.99 at Roborock UK and at Amazon UK (sold by Roborock Official UK, dispatched from Amazon), checked 16 Oct 2026. Amazon labelled it a limited-time deal. Both sellers are Roborock channels, so we’ve flagged it as brand-controlled.

Prices and availability are accurate as of the date shown and may change. The price on the retailer’s site at the time of purchase applies.

Verdict

The Q7 M5 is the cheapest robot here with a solid body of independent testing behind it. TechRadar’s tester found it picked up “an impressive volume of dog hair” from carpet, and T3 and RTINGS also rate its everyday pickup well. Testers also found that long hair can wrap round the roller, and the dock only charges, so you empty the bin yourself. If you can live with that, the evidence says it cleans carpets well for the money.

Why we picked it

  • It is the lowest-priced model that passed our availability rules and has several independent reviews: TechRadar, T3, Tom’s Guide and RTINGS lab results.
  • It was in stock at two authorised UK sellers at £119.99 on 16 Oct 2026. Both are run by Roborock (its own UK store and its official Amazon storefront), so we’ve flagged it as brand-controlled.

What it does well

  • Carpet pickup: TechRadar’s Ruth Hamilton found it handled dust and pet hair on carpet well, and praised its mapping and its handling of tall thresholds. Tom’s Guide found it excellent at lifting dust from low-pile carpet, and RTINGS’ lab test found it removes most pet hair from carpet in a single pass.
  • Everyday debris: T3 said it cleared pet hair, crumbs and debris from carpet and hard floors “without a hitch”. RTINGS rated its hard-floor pickup as excellent, with some dirt left along baseboards and in corners.
  • TechRadar category scores: Value 4/5, Design 3.5/5, Performance 4/5, App 3.5/5. TechRadar’s review page shows no overall star rating.

What to know before buying

  • Hair and the roller: TechRadar’s tester found long hair wrapped round the roller and the brushroll tangled quickly. Tom’s Guide said hair was always tangled in the roller, mostly human hair that had to be cut out, though it handled pet hair better. Homes & Gardens said hair only wrapped on days its dog was shedding heavily and could be pulled off by hand, and RTINGS said tangled hair comes off by hand without scissors. Roborock says the robot has a dual anti-tangle system, but results varied by tester.
  • Charge-only dock: The dock charges the robot and nothing else; it doesn’t empty the bin. TechRadar tested it with the charge-only dock, and Roborock UK’s box contents list a charging dock. TechRadar noted that the self-emptying versions (Q7 M5+ and Q7 Max+) don’t appear to be available in the UK.
  • Mopping is basic: TechRadar and T3 found the mop wetter than they’d like and unable to lift for carpet, so carpet can get damp. Tom’s Guide found floors evenly damp but not soaking, dry in about 15 minutes, and Homes & Gardens said floors dried quickly but stains were smeared. Treat it as a quick wipe, not a deep clean.
  • Obstacles and app: T3 called obstacle avoidance hit and miss and reported app glitches. TechRadar also found obstacle avoidance patchy and the app a little glitchy. RTINGS rated obstacle handling poor, saying cords and rugs often trip it up. Homes & Gardens said it avoided furniture well but struggled with smaller items such as toys.
  • Testers disagree on hard floors: Homes & Gardens found it poor on hard floors and said its mopping smeared stains. That conflicts with TechRadar, T3 and RTINGS, which rated hard-floor pickup well, and with Tom’s Guide’s tiled-floor test (93.3% average pickup). We can’t resolve the disagreement from the published evidence.
  • Model match: None of the reviews we read confirms that its test unit is identical to the UK model. TechRadar, Tom’s Guide and Homes & Gardens list US prices, and RTINGS says it buys most of its units in the US.
  • Price and supply: Both sellers are Roborock-controlled. When we checked on 13 Oct 2026 we didn’t find it at another UK retailer (we searched Currys, Very and John Lewis; we couldn’t check AO.com). Prices move, so check the retailer’s page.

Best for

  • Homes with a lot of carpet, where strong pickup counts for more than mopping.
  • Buyers who want the lowest price backed by independent evidence, and don’t mind emptying the bin and clearing the roller.
  • Reasonably tidy floors, given the mixed results on obstacle avoidance.

Skip it if

  • Someone in your home has long hair and you don’t want to clear the roller regularly.
  • You want a self-emptying dock. Look at the Xiaomi X20+ instead.
  • You need mopping beyond a light wipe, or the robot must cross rugs while mopping.
  • Your floors are often scattered with cables, socks or toys.

Price and value

£119.99 at Roborock UK and at Amazon UK (sold by Roborock Official UK, dispatched from Amazon, free delivery), checked 16 Oct 2026. Amazon labelled it a limited-time deal, and the price has moved: it was £159.99 when we checked on 13 Oct 2026. Both sellers are Roborock channels. Prices move, so treat this as a snapshot. TechRadar scored it 4/5 for value. Our view: at between about £120 and £160, its tested carpet performance makes it good value, as long as you accept the charge-only dock and the roller maintenance.

Xiaomi X20+: best budget self-emptying vacuum-mop

Price: £249.99 at Xiaomi’s UK store and £299.99 at Amazon UK (shipped and sold by Amazon), checked 16 Oct 2026. The two sellers are not both brand-controlled.

Prices and availability are accurate as of the date shown and may change. The price on the retailer’s site at the time of purchase applies.

Verdict

The X20+ puts a dock that empties the bin and washes the mop pads under £300, and TechRadar scored it highly. Two German tests of EU units found weaker obstacle avoidance and corner cleaning than TechRadar reported. That makes it strong value, with real caveats. Choose it for convenience on reasonably clear floors, not for tricky, cluttered rooms.

Why we picked it

  • Among the models we checked, it is the only one that passed our availability rules with a dock that empties the bin and washes the mop pads for under £300. That is not a claim about the whole market: we did not progress the Eufy Omni C28/E25, Tapo RV50 Pro Omni, Dyson R1 Nurovi Dry or Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 through our availability checks.
  • It has three independent reviews, including a lab-based test from CHIP. Two of the three tested EU units (see below).
  • It was in stock at £249.99 at Xiaomi’s UK store and £299.99 at Amazon UK (sold by Amazon) on 16 Oct 2026. These are not both brand-controlled sellers.

What it does well

  • Carpet cleaning: TechRadar’s Derek Adams (September 2024) called its carpet cleaning “exceptional” after a second pass.
  • Mop lift: TechRadar reported that the mop pads lift 7 mm for carpet, though they stayed down on a thin rug. CHIP also measured a 7 mm lift.
  • Debris and light stains: CHIP’s lab test (EU unit; UK match unconfirmed) recorded 8 of 8 wool-fluff samples picked up on maximum power. It found light stains, including dried espresso, were handled reliably, and graded mopping Good (2.5). COMPUTER BILD (EU unit; UK match unconfirmed) found it picked up nearly 90 g of a 100 g debris mix.
  • TechRadar category scores: Value 5/5, Design 4/5, Performance 4.5/5, App 4/5. TechRadar’s review page shows no overall star rating.

What to know before buying

Testers disagree on three points. Here are the published positions side by side:

TopicTechRadar (priced in £; unit region not stated)CHIP (EU unit; UK match unconfirmed)COMPUTER BILD (EU unit; UK match unconfirmed)
Obstacle avoidanceJudged adequate for larger items; couldn’t vouch for dog messSwallowed a test sock; very poor on sock, Lego, pet-waste imitation and doll testsAvoided socks and shoes; often missed cables and plastic dog mess
Carpet detectionMop pads lifted for carpet but stayed down on a thin rugNot addressedFound no carpet detection, so you have to mark carpets in the app
Mop dryingDescribed hot-air dryingNot addressedMop pads rinsed and dried with cold water and air only

We can’t settle these disagreements from the published evidence. Our checks didn’t include Xiaomi UK’s own specification on drying.

  • Edges and corners are weak: CHIP graded corner cleaning Poor (4.8) and measured a 52 mm gap from walls when mopping. COMPUTER BILD found it collected only about half the peas placed in corners.
  • Slow, with mid-range dust results (EU unit): CHIP measured more than one minute per square metre when vacuuming. CHIP’s dust test (quartz sand on high-pile rug and hard floor) recorded 63.3% pickup on maximum power and 53.1% on minimum.
  • Stubborn stains remain: CHIP said stubborn cappuccino stains remained. COMPUTER BILD said dried-on dirt may need more than one pass. TechRadar noted residue after its honey and soy tests.
  • The dock is big: TechRadar described the dock as very large, so measure your space first.
  • How to read the German grades: CHIP gave Good (2.3) at the time of testing, later updated to Good (2.5), on the German scale where 1 is best. COMPUTER BILD gave 3.2, “satisfactory”. Both tested EU units; we haven’t confirmed that they are identical to the UK model.
  • Age of the reviews: The independent reviews date from 2024.

Best for

  • Buyers who want automatic bin emptying and mop washing for under £300.
  • Homes that are mainly open-plan, with floors kept reasonably clear before a run.
  • Mixed carpet and hard floors, as long as you’re happy to mark rugs in the app if needed.

Skip it if

  • Your floors regularly have cables, socks, small toys or pet accidents on them.
  • You have lots of tight corners and want edges cleaned thoroughly.
  • You’re short of floor space for a large dock.
  • Heated mop drying is a must; testers disagree on whether it has it.

Price and value

£249.99 at Xiaomi’s UK store, where the page said 7 were left at that price, and £299.99 at Amazon UK (shipped and sold by Amazon, free delivery), checked 16 Oct 2026. Xiaomi UK showed £299.99 crossed out, which is also the RRP, and the price has moved: it was £279.99 at both sellers when we checked on 13 Oct 2026. Prices move. TechRadar scored it 5/5 for value. Our view: among the models we checked, few docks this capable appear in this price band. The value depends on your floors suiting its weaker obstacle and corner performance.

Deal watch: close, but not picks

These models sit near or under £500 at some UK sellers but don’t meet our selection rules today. We’ll revisit them as prices and stock change.

Roborock Qrevo S Pro. £359.99 at Roborock UK and at Amazon UK (sold by Roborock), checked 16 Oct 2026, against an RRP of £549.99. Both sellers are Roborock channels. It is currently discounted below £500, and the discount has changed: it was £449.99 when we checked on 13 Oct 2026. So it stays on deal watch under our rules. The evidence is good: Good Housekeeping UK scored it 90/100, though its testers found it struggled with clumps of pet hair, and T3’s reviewer was also positive about its cleaning but noted it missed some debris, including larger cereal pieces. What would make it a pick: a standard price at or below £500 at two authorised sellers, or an RRP cut to £500 or less.

Shark Matrix Plus RV2620WAUK (black/silver). £500.00 at Very, Argos and John Lewis, checked 16 Oct 2026. That is exactly at our ceiling. SharkNinja UK lists it at £519.99, so it reaches £500 only below the brand’s own price. Argos shows a £9.95 large-item delivery charge on its site, but we couldn’t confirm that it applies to this product, so we haven’t counted it against the £500 ceiling. Testers disagree: Good Housekeeping UK scored it 84/100, while Expert Reviews gave it 3/5. The white version (RV2620WAUKWH) is often much cheaper but is a different model code, so we haven’t treated it as the same product. What would make it a pick: a standard brand price of £500 or less, with stronger agreement between testers.

Roborock QV 35S. £299.99 at Roborock UK (compare-at price £499.99), checked 16 Oct 2026, but it was showing as out of stock there. When we checked on 13 Oct 2026, its Amazon UK listing showed “Currently unavailable”. Good Housekeeping UK scored it 88/100, and its testers said pet hair pick-up was the main downside. Tom’s Guide (US-published, unit region not stated; UK match unconfirmed) reviewed it in April 2026 and also found pet hair its weaker area: its hair pickup was 92% on hard floor, 60% on low-pile carpet and 40% on high-pile carpet. What would make it a pick: stock at two authorised UK sellers.

Buying guide: what matters under £500

Choose the dock first

Our view: under £500, the type of dock makes the biggest difference to day-to-day ownership. A charge-only dock (like the Q7 M5’s) means emptying a small bin by hand after most runs. A self-emptying dock (like the X20+’s) moves dust into a bag, and Xiaomi says its 2.5 L bag lasts up to 75 days. Mop-washing docks also rinse the pads, but how they dry them varies, and testers don’t always agree on what a given dock does. Docks with more features are bigger, so measure before you buy.

Don’t buy on suction (Pa)

Pascal (Pa) suction figures are manufacturer specifications, and the tests we read used different conditions, so a bigger number doesn’t tell you how well a robot will clean. Use independent test results instead.

Obstacle avoidance varies a lot

In the tests we read, both picks handled large obstacles better than small ones: cables, socks and imitation pet mess caught them out at times. If your floors are often cluttered, clearing them before a run makes more difference than any spec.

Mopping at this price is light

Both picks mop, but the testers found neither removes stubborn or dried-on stains in one pass. Check whether the mop lifts for carpet: the X20+ lifts its pads 7 mm, while TechRadar and T3 found the Q7 M5’s mop can’t lift at all.

Hair and maintenance

Testers disagreed on how badly hair wraps the Q7 M5’s roller: TechRadar and Tom’s Guide found long hair wrapped it, while Homes & Gardens and RTINGS found it easy to clear by hand. Every robot needs its brushes, filters and sensors cleaned now and then.

Check the exact UK model and the seller

Some robots come in regional and colour variants with different codes and prices. For example, the white Shark RV2620WAUKWH is priced very differently from the black/silver RV2620WAUK, and the Xiaomi X20+ has a separate EU listing on Amazon UK. Buy the exact UK model code from an authorised seller. Marketplace listings from third-party sellers may be cheaper, but they fall outside our availability rules.

How we chose

Bot ‘n’ Brush did not conduct hands-on testing for this guide. Our picks are based on published independent tests and checks of UK availability and pricing. You can read more about how we research our guides.

  • Independent evidence first. We looked for independent tests of each robot by named reviewers and attribute every claim to its source: a reviewer’s result, a manufacturer’s specification, or our own reasoning (which we mark as our view). Where testers disagree, we show both sides.
  • The two-authorised-seller rule. To qualify, a robot had to be in stock at £500 or less at two authorised UK sellers on the date we checked. Authorised sellers are the brand’s own UK store, Amazon UK when Amazon or the brand’s official storefront is the seller, and major UK retailers. Third-party marketplace sellers don’t count. We checked prices and stock directly on retailer pages on 16 Oct 2026, and we note where a price could not be confirmed that way.
  • Brand-controlled sellers are flagged. If both qualifying sellers belong to the brand (for example, Roborock’s UK store and its official Amazon storefront), we say so.
  • Ceiling and discounts. A price of exactly £500.00 counts, but we flag it. A robot that’s under £500 only because of a discount from a higher RRP can’t be a pick; it goes on deal watch instead.
  • Delivery charges. We count a delivery charge against the £500 ceiling only where we’ve confirmed it is mandatory. Where a charge is shown but unconfirmed, as with Argos’s £9.95 banner for the Shark, we note it without counting it.
  • Exact UK models. Reviews must relate to the exact model sold in the UK. Where a reviewer tested an EU unit, or the unit’s region is unclear, we say so.
  • What we didn’t check. The Eufy Omni C28/E25, Tapo RV50 Pro Omni, Dyson R1 Nurovi Dry and Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 3 were not progressed through our availability checks, and we couldn’t check AO.com. This list is not a survey of the whole market.
  • Affiliate links don’t decide anything. Commission potential played no part in which products qualified or how they rank. The number of picks was set by the evidence, not by a target.

Models we considered but excluded: the Eufy X10 Pro Omni (£599 at eufy UK and Argos, checked 16 Oct 2026); the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni (when we checked on 13 Oct 2026, we could not verify an authorised UK seller at or below £500); and the white Shark Matrix Plus RV2620WAUKWH, which has a different model code from the RV2620WAUK.

FAQs

What’s the best robot vacuum under £500 in the UK?

It depends on the dock you want. On the independent evidence we reviewed, the Roborock Q7 M5 is our budget pick if you’re happy with a charge-only dock. The Xiaomi X20+ is our pick if you want a self-emptying, mop-washing dock for under £300. We’ve picked only two because the evidence didn’t support more.

Does higher suction (Pa) mean better cleaning?

Not reliably. Pa is a manufacturer specification, and the tests we read used different conditions. Independent cleaning tests are a better guide.

Is a self-emptying dock worth it under £500?

If you don’t want to empty a small bin after most runs, yes. The trade-offs are a larger dock and replacement dust bags. At the lowest prices we checked on 16 Oct 2026, the X20+ cost £130 more than the Q7 M5 (£249.99 against £119.99).

Are budget robot vacuums good with pet hair?

The results are mixed, so we haven’t named a pet-hair pick. TechRadar found the Q7 M5 picked up a lot of dog hair from carpet, and RTINGS found it lifts most pet hair, but long hair wrapped its roller in TechRadar’s and Tom’s Guide’s tests. Good Housekeeping UK found the Qrevo S Pro and the QV 35S both left some pet hair behind.

Why isn’t the Roborock Qrevo S Pro or Shark Matrix Plus a pick?

Both reach £500 or less only below a higher list price. The Qrevo S Pro was £359.99 against an RRP of £549.99, and the Shark was £500.00 at Very, Argos and John Lewis against £519.99 at SharkNinja UK (all checked 16 Oct 2026). Our rules don’t allow discount-only picks, so both are on deal watch.

Why do the prices on this page change so often?

Prices for these robots move quickly, especially around sale events. For example, the Roborock Q7 M5 was £159.99 on 13 Oct 2026 and £119.99 on 16 Oct 2026. We show the date of every price check, and the retailer’s page is always the final word.

Final verdict

If you want strong carpet results for the least money and don’t mind emptying the bin, the Roborock Q7 M5 has the strongest independent evidence among the models we checked, especially on carpet. Plan to clear hair from its roller. If you’d rather the dock did the dirty work, the Xiaomi X20+ adds bin emptying and mop washing from £249.99 (checked 16 Oct 2026), but testers disagree on obstacle avoidance and its corner cleaning is weak. Keep an eye on our deal watch list too: the Roborock Qrevo S Pro could become a pick if it gets a standard price at or below £500.
